Mona altered book part 2

The stamp above is the Duomo in Florence Italy.
I love Florence Italy!
The featured on this page is Palazzo Vecchio.

Most of this art I have seen...but nothing beats David!
I made a book, that are actual pages I reduced.

The Birth of Venus is copied on acetate.
There is a light behind it that you can twist to turn on.
It illuminates and the true art shines.

Mona altered book part 1

Here is an altered book I did a bit ago.
I used a lot of my DP Artworks rubber stamps.
The Mona stamp is like no other.
It is a reverse of the actual painting of Mona.
Altered books are so much fun to make.
Both these pages have movable parts.
Flip it up....and....
pull it up.

Winter rose

This is not a winter rose....is there such a thing?
I could have titled this as 'frozen in time'.

Keep out!

Keep out!

Cedar Waxwings

It was a great birding day!
We were seeing lots of Robins, they were everywhere.
And alas, we saw the Cedar Waxwings.
The Waxwings were eating on the same tree as the Robins.
I am figuring by tomorrow all the fruit will be gone....and we got to see it today!

My Oklahoma

A quick trip to the lake = Amazing time!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh deer

Lake Thunderbird, Norman Oklahoma
Went to our local lake on a whim one early evening.

There were dozens of deer....everywhere.

All these photos were taken with the sun behind them.

I love the effect the sun made on these shots.

Some Oklahoma Woodpeckers

Here is a Yellow-bellied Woodpecker.
A pair of Red-headed Woodpeckers.
Another look at the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
A sweet little Downy Woodpecker.

Gathering altered books

Here is a Secret Garden altered book I did.

The photos are random shots of the book...no real order.

The niche is filled with paper flowers.

The gnomes in the tree swing.

It is so much fun to make altered books.

So I was asked to post photos of some of my altered books. Today I will be photographing them and will post them tomorrow.

I'm writing a book....or two.

So I am writing a book....actually two books. One is a non-fiction the other...well....fiction.

I can tell you about the non-fiction book; it is a birds of Oklahoma, type book. Photos, info, tips and stories will be my focus. I decided on this because I have...well, as you can imagine a ton of photos of birds seen here in Oklahoma...exciting!

The other book is a work of fiction. I am at the research stage right now...I kind of feel like I am in school again. Back in November we took a trip here in Oklahoma, the place has haunted my thoughts every since...I must write it.

If not now....when?

So….That is what I am working on…..besides a new catalog, getting organized and so on.

Hawk it up!

There have been a lot of hawks here in and outside of town. I see them while driving to work, out birding and even in my backyard.
They are amazing birds.
So silent in their flight, a whisper in the wind.

Art is art!

Blake Baldwin was 16 years old when he died in a car accident 13 years ago.
This year he would be 29 years old.

Through the work of many people; including his mother, local business owners, graf artists, local leaders, Norman Arts Council, the Norman Parks Board and the City of Norman and even Blake himself, this park was cre8ed and is maintained.

Many people young and old use this park everyday.

They even have a place for us "older" folks to sit, visit and watch.

What was really cute (when we were there last Friday evening) a lady and a five year old rode up on their bikes. They watched for a short time and then the young one went on one of the beginner ramps. It was awesome...I wanted to cheer out loud. You could tell this was so much fun for them.
What started off as plans in a notebook from a sixteen year old has become a place of sk8ing, cre8ing and so much more.
